Pilfered Picture Project: DOF, but in reverse

So, I'm doing the weeks of the project in reverse - much like the picture next week is supposed to be about depth of field and I'm posting reverse DOF this week. I caught a cute pic of Joey (aka Bonkey, rhymes with Monkey) today, as I played with her and Fishka - her squeaky fish toy.

This has become her favorite. We have a yellow one also, but the pink Fishka (a Kafka-esque fish) is the only one that really matters to her and to the scheme of things.

Bonkey reminds me of a deepwater ocean fish - the kind that lures its prey. She will lie down on the floor, Fishka about 3 feet away, and then bark ferociously at any of the other animals who come near. This would be kind of cute except she also does it all night long.

I took away Fishka last night before bed. First full night of sleep we've had for three weeks . . .

Full Moon on Water

We were driving home last night. The full moon was reflected in the lake at Saginaw Valley State University, trimmed by the lights from the parking lot. It was worth stopping for.

Pilfered Picture Project: Jagged

How does a dog smile?

Well, it can be a pretty scary thing if you are not used to it. The top lip curls back, the teeth bared, looking quite Jagged.

This is Allie, our 2-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever mix. Looking vicious, but actually loving on her mom.

Pilfered Picture Project: Backlit

The corn crib ~

Buds are beginning to swell

Peace, overlying all

Our light, backlit

Morning harbinger of spring
Misty morning greeting
Give us this day, the glory

Morning sky ~
The old church bell, still wrung by hand each Sunday
Soffets
Me, with messy hair
Radiance

I am always looking for something extraordinary in the ordinary. I think I found it by having chosen multiple nearby faces, images, and idyls for this week's work - Backlit.

Pilfered Picture Project: Blue

We had only set out for a drive. A little time out of the house, which lately had been stifling. The sun had long set, and the millions of visible stars were now peeking through.

In the field, a vernal pond shimmered in the faded denim of post-twilight. It was the New Moon, the only light other than that of Sol was from the three lights of a farm in the distance.

All around us, it was Blue.

Pilfered Project: Work and Update

So, I was told that I was supposed to have 15 pieces of flare. Ha! I'm onto you!

I do have a few pictures of work, but it's of a different kind. I thought about what work means to me right now. I have been hired as an instructor at Delta College (but I miss UC!), but I have not worked outside of the home for over a year.

So, what is work to me?

Work is the huge gorgeous old barn in my yard whose renovations begin next month. The cement flooring was not reinforced when poured, pushing out the sides of the barn. But, look at the internal structure: solid, whole trees (some with bark attached). It's worth the work of saving!

The other idea I had is that other forces work, too, not just humans. As the boiling water steeps the teabags, so I work to have the tea calm my senses. It's a beautiful thing.

Pilfered Picture Project: Flare

I honestly have had this picture on my camera for over a week. Honestly. I just have not had a battery to upload it with.

The topic of last week's picture was Flare. I call this: "Night Flare". This is the ghost light in our backyard. It comes on and off at will. It's really supposed to, but it should come on when the sun goes down. Some mornings, it comes on when the sun comes up. Go figure.

Incidentally, I have a better shot, or at least had. It was the one on which the battery died!
